David Davis was the builder at this corner site in Fordham Street/Settles Street. He was the one among the seven builder brothers Davis who built least in the east End; indeed this is the only known surviving example of his work here, as his main centre of operations was in Goldhurst Terrace, West Hampstead, though before WW1 he had other small-scale projects on the London Hospital estate.1
